What to Expect as a First-Time Buyer

Are you unsure what to expect as a first-time buyer?

Wondering what to do as a first-time buyer?

In this article, we explore the key stages at LTC Mortgages, so you know exactly what to expect as a first-time buyer.

The 5 key stages are as follows:

  1. Gather documents
  2. Initial phone call
  3. Fact-finding appointment
  4. House buying process
  5. Further assistance

What to expect #1 – Gather documents

Once you’re booked in with one of our Liverpool based mortgage advisers here at LTC Mortgages, you’ll be asked to send over 3 months’ payslips (employed) or 2 years’ tax documents (self-employed), plus a copy of your full credit report.

What to expect #2 – Initial phone call

Once we’ve received your documents, you’ll have a 10-15 minute chat over the phone with one of our mortgage advisers, Liam or Lisa.

We’ll review your documents, then confirm the date for your full appointment, which will take place preferably face-to-face in our West Derby, Liverpool office.

What to expect #3 – Fact-finding appointment

The full appointment at our Liverpool office will take around 40 minutes & is known as the fact-finding appointment.

Here, we’ll learn everything about you and your lifestyle.

We’ll carry out Know Your Customer (KYC) checks to confirm personal details.

We’ll discuss mortgage information & rates.

Then, request to obtain your Agreement in Principle (AIP). Usually, this is done within an hour so you will likely find out on the day.

What to expect #4 – House buying process

Once you have your Agreement in Principle (AIP), you can start house hunting.

The likes of Rightmove and Zoopla are a good starting point.

We’ll continue to support you throughout the house buying process.

We can assist with estate agents & solicitors to ensure a smooth process from start to finish.

What to expect #5 – Further assistance

Our assistance here at LTC Mortgages doesn’t just stop when you receive your keys.

Our mortgage advisers can also help you with your home & life insurance.

Plus, we’ll be in touch when your mortgage is up for renewal to find you the best rate & terms once again!
